Upgrading Luglow Water Supply Project
Project Overview
Jubaland Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, in partnership with UNICEF through funds from ECHO, is enhancing the Luglow water scheme to meet the present and future water demands of the service area. The ongoing efforts will attempt to address the water demand of the new settlement under the durable solution, exisitng IDP settlements and host communities.
Project Objectives
The aim of the project is to upgrade existing water system by addition of new water infrastructure to optimize the exisitng water scheme. This includes establishing the production potential of the scheme and hydraulic modelling of the water mains.
Project Geographic Coverage
The Project target Geographical Area is Luglow IDPs -Kismayo, Lower Juba.

Construction of Shallow Wells
Construction of 10 flood proof high yield shallow wells are complete.
Construction Water Kiosks
Construction of 18 communal water kiosks each with 5 taps are completed.
Water Connection
Sustainable water connection to the new and existing kiosks done.
Generator & Caretaker Rooms
Construction of a single generator and caretaker rooms are complete.
Pipeline Distribution
Procurement, excavation and laying of 7.7km Pipeline distribution of rising main and internal distribution is complete.
Solar Pannels
Provision of 100 panels of solar (550 Watt each) and mounting structures for 10 wells and rising main are done.
Submersible Pump
10 sets of 1.5KW submersible pumps for ten wells, 1 set of submersible pump of 11KW for rising main procured and installed.
Procurement of Generator(Hybrid)
Purchase and installation of 45kVA Deutz Generator (Hybrid) full installation with control units is done.
