Somali Electricity Sector Recovery Project
Project Overview
The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources is part of the Somali Electricity Sector Recovery Project (SESRP) which the Federal Government of Somalia and the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources is implementing . The project Development objective is to increase access to lower-cost and cleaner electricity supply in the project areas and to Re-establish the electricity supply industry.
The Project will be implemented across the entire Somalia peninsula, covering Southern Somalia (Banaadir, Jubbaland, South west state, Hiiraan & Shabelle and Galmuudud), Somaliland, and Puntland.
Project Development Objectives
The objective is Increased access to lower-cost electricity and to re-stablish the electricity
supply industry, from diverse energy resources especially renewable energy resources.
Expected Outcome
The expected result of the project is to Laying the foundation for National interconnection.
National Grid and Sustainable Energy Development Landscape.
Sector Institutional
Sector institutional, legal and regulatory enabling environment for sustained sector
operations, including enhancing both the public and private capacity.
